Kam Moye – Spitting Image Album Sampler

October 27th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Blogroll, Music News & Downloads and written by Jay Ru

The date has finally arrived and to celebrate the October 27th release of Splitting Image, Kam Moye has leaked a self-selected album sampler, just in case there are still any undecided folks out there. The sampler is a 7-song sneak preview of Kam’s first CD under his given name, rather than his alter ego Supastition. Splitting Image represents more than just a name change for Kam. The album isn’t a departure so much as an evolution towards a more mature, focused persona, and the sampler contains several songs that hint at this transition.

The sampler features production from Jake One, Vitamin D, M-phazes, Veterano, Khrysis, and S1 with guest appearances by Phonte, One Be Lo, Zumbi (Zion I), and many more.

Album Sampler Track List:
1. Splitting Image ft. Neenah
2. Imani
3. Re:born
4. Hello Karma ft. Phonte and Ayah
5. Let’s Be Honest
6. Give Out, Give In
7. Life Line ft. One Be Lo

MP3: Jern Eye – “Get Right” Feat. Mistah F.A.B. & Zion I (Produced by Jake One)

August 28th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Blogroll, Music News & Downloads, Video and written by Jay Ru

Get Right” is one of many bangers off Jern Eye’s upcoming sophomore release Vision, and he brought along some outstanding company to join him on the track. With production by Jake One and guest verses from Bay Area comrades Mistah F.A.B. & Zion I, “Get Right,” gives the listener something for the mind to mull while the head nods. Speaking on the concept behind “Get Right” Jern Eye says, “The song is about getting the mind right, about asking ourselves what’s important to us while we’re all in the struggle, eating or fashion? Sometimes it takes delving into one’s mind to find the answers.” All concept driven songs require chemistry, and for Jern and his fellow emcees common connections helped: “The chemistry came natural since we all live in Oakland and see first hand the struggles we deal with in the community.” Jern Eye’s new album, Vision, will be available October 13th via MYX Music Label.

D.Black – “Touch the Stars” Feat. Tiffany Wilson (Prod. By Jake One)

August 17th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Blogroll, Music News & Downloads and written by Jay Ru

D.Black once again teams up with producer Jake One to create the next addition to his album Ali’ Yah. “Touch the Stars,” which serves as the bonus track on the Seattle emcee’s forthcoming LP, combines D.Black’s soulful flow and inspiring lyrical work and Jake One’s epic production with a secret ingredient. Tiffany Wilson’s sweet, yet powerful voice is the perfect addition to this track, creating an uplifting sensation as she comes in to sing the chorus. D.Black makes this sensation even more potent with the uplifting message implanted within his own lyrics, while Jake succeeds in taking it a step further with a powerful, also uplifting, musical progression.

Speaking on the concept behind the track, D.Black says, “This song was for the brethren who have lacked the power of boldness, to defy the grumbling of a world who is against them and carry out the divine call. The call, to touch stars which sit in the midst of dark skies.” D.Black’s sophomore album title Ali’ Yah is Hebrew for “to ascend.” The message within this song inspires people to stand up, to ascend and to touch the stars. D.Black’s new album, Ali’Yah, will be available September 15th via Sportn’ Life Records / MYX Music Label.

February 7th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Blogroll, Video and written by Jay Ru

We’re a lil late with this but i hope you won’t mind. the late J.Dilla would of been 35 yesterday (7.2.09) and to celebrate Stones Throw have put out 45 mins of footage of Dilla’s first show with Madlib, the v.t. also features Common and J Rocc. Click the pic to download!

Well, thank you to Madlib & the Stones Throw Family (Wolf, Jank & Egonavichi) for giving me such an experience. It was a blessing … Getting to spin for my favorite producers. I remember getting tapes from Jake One of Slum Village and beat tapes and just geeking out with the few homies who knew what time it was. Then I’m getting to d.j. and go on tour with this dude. Man, talk about a dream come true.

Anyhow…enough with the heartfelt moments..” – J. ROCC
